Marking Schedule: Presentation and Group Report

The mark for your presentation focuses on your artefact itself, the mark for your group report focuses on the theory behind your artefact, your work with users, your evaluation of the artefact, and a critical reflection on your own work.

Presentation

A maximum of four slides (PDF), a demonstration (simulation) of the artefact during the presentation, a video that shows how the artefact is supposed to work. Remember that using partial simulations is fine.

The presentation is marked out of 100. Everybody gets the same mark, which counts for 60%, and 40% are your group peer marks.

Criteria

  • Is it clear what the artefact is supposed to do, and how it does it? (30%)
  • Is it clear for whom the artefact was designed, who the initial anyficiaries are? (30%)
  • How original, engaging, and/or thought provoking is the artefact? (20%)
  • Is the presentation clear and easy to understand? (10%)
  • Is the video clear and easy to understand? (10%)

Group Report

The group report is around 1000 words long, excluding references. It is marked out of 100. Everybody gets the same mark, which counts for 60%, and 40% are your group peer marks.

  • How appropriate is the design approach / the theoretical stance that you have taken? (15%)
  • How well have you characterised your user group? (20%)
  • How well did you analyse the outcomes of user research and user testing? (15%)
  • How well have you identified what worked and what did not work? (15%)
  • How good are your suggestions for further development of the artefact, and for dealing with any shortcomings? (15%)
  • How clear is the writing? (10%)
  • Are you citing the appropriate scientific literature? (10%)
